Andersen
is the only window we use.
We
use Andersen "TW" (Tilt-Wash), double hung, high performance
vinyl clad windows with screens exclusively. The Andersen "TW"
in your new home are double glazed and include low "e"
with argon. The windows are vinyl clad on the outside and have
prefinished wood interiors. The screen on the outside is an aluminum
frame with corrosion resistant aluminum cloth and aluminum splines
and remove to the inside. Both the upper and lower sash tilt in
with finger tip ease and lock tightly back in place after cleaning.
This is absolutely the safest, most secure window of its kind.
We can explain more about the Andersen 20-year warranty on glass
and a 20-year warranty on all other parts and components. There
are many options you can choose from, such as transoms, grilles,
as well as changing to casements, etc.
When it comes
to energy efficiency, the Andersen window performance far exceeds
the competition. Andersen is the first and only national window
and door manufacturer to label its complete product line.
Look
up on our roof.
We use the
Certainteed New Horizon Shangle as our standard shingle. They
are a minimum of 240 pounds per square, which means that every
10'x10' area on your roof will have 240-pounds of shingles and
15 pounds of roofing felt under that. The Certainteed New Shangle
is a no cut-out design that has areas where the ceramic granules
are built up so it gives the shingles a dimensional look. You
will notice the difference when you look up at your roof and compare
it to most other new homes. Certainteed also has the 25 year warranty
and 5 year "SureStart Protection" on your New Horizon
Shangles.
A short
explanation of OSB Sheathing.
OSB stands
for Oriented Strand Board. OSB is a highly engineered sheathing
board that is manufactured in layers just like plywood. Each layer
in the OSB is oriented perpendicular to one another to give it
strength. OSB is made with resins that impregnate the wood strands
so they bond together. The resins also serve to make the OSB highly
resistant to moisture. If the OSB gets waterlogged, it won't delaminate
like plywood. That's less of a concern for use because we build
in a controlled environment! Anyway, these are the reasons we
believe OSB is a better sheathing than plywood. We use OSB for
our floor system, to sheath our walls, and on our roof system.
It's a very important part of your new home.
